Baumé – A Hi-Tech Gastronomy Experience at Silicon Valley

Every time you hear the word “Silicon Valley” the first thing crossed your mind probably won’t go too far from “Computers”, “IT” and “Technology”. But no, we are not going to talk about shiny gadgets or the latest computer softwares and geek here, we are going to talk something more important: food! And we are going to find out about a hi-tech gastronomy restaurant that are established on the world’s most hi-tech place… introducing to you, The Baumé by Chef Bruno Chemel.

Baumé is not your ordinary gastronomy restaurant to behold, it is a refined establishment serving hi-tech molecular gastronomy befits for those scientists and businessmen living in Silicon Valley. It is meant to be a combination of the new and the old, just like how they describe themselves as “represents something which is scientifically classic but gastronomically modern.   It fits Chef Bruno Chemel’s concept by being something originally French but which is now used universally. “

The dining room was designed with an emphasis on clarity and tranquility.  Baumé restaurant was built with a focus on Quality, Honesty, and a Respect for Nature.  These philosophies carry from the attitude of the staff to the food itself.  Our menu is built with a consideration for digestion and moderation influenced by macrobiotic cooking.  With this in mind, we’ve prepared a small focused wine list to accent the food without overwhelming it.  It is French Cuisine Moderne with a Zen Touch.

And Zen touch it is, since you will not find any sort of menu when you dine in, instead, you will see the list of ingredients currently available for the restaurant to use and what you need to do is to choose between either 5, 10 or 15 courses menu. The rest is up to the Chef to decide what you’re going to eat tonight.

You will find various foods in various forms of gels, spheres and foams here such as sponges of chocolate, and caviar shaped liquid cheese but those who fancy more for the more “usual” meat should worry not, you will still get your juicy prime beef and truffle jus here!

Courses will cost you in the range of $118 to $248 per person.  There will be a 20% extra service charge for dining parties larger than 5 persons.
